Airpura Air Purifiers
About Airpura Air Purifiers
Airpura air purifiers are high efficiency filtration systems that are very effective at removing chemicals, odors, and also airborne particles. While most air purifiers only have a small amount of carbon sprayed on the filter, Airpura has 18 to 30 pounds to capture more than 60% of its own weight in bacteria, gases, odors, or airborne chemicals like Radon, Benzene, and Formaldehyde. Activated carbon in the air purifier’s filter is "activated" with oxygen to open up tiny pores between the carbon atoms. This vastly increases the surface area of the carbon, and like a sponge allows the carbon to adsorb a large volume of harmful chemicals and odors while still being cost effective.
Airpura air purifiers are designed and constructed in Canada. They feature an aluminum body and a DC motor/fan, which allow for very high airflow through their dense HEPA & carbon filters. A popular feature on Airpura units is the variable rate knob to adjust the speed, rather than a few fixed speed settings.
Airpura uses four stages of HEPA filters to stop 99.7% of particles as small as .3 microns. The air initially passes through a pre-filter to capture larger particles, then moves through two Micro-Suppression filters to absorb smoke, gases and chemicals, and finally a fourth filter to do away with the smaller microns. Airpura products are even used by military personnel to help protect against harmful gases.
