Yeah..like most everyone does, I also fell for the great advertizing snow job done by Oreck.. how good it sounded when they said these units are used on military submarines, so how can you go wrong?
I BOUGHT TWO!! $700 Down the drain!! Well I went wrong by just listening to the snow job they were selling and not doing my homework on the actual testing done to see how the thing measures up to the ones that aren't on TV telling lies. Truth is the best products dont really need to be advertized because they work so well they dont need to lie on TV to sell the product..DO THE HOMEWORK, THE GOOD ONES ARE WORTH DOING THE RESEARCH! Oh, and if ya really do like this Oreck XL PRO, I've got two for sale sitting here collecting the same dust it couldn't get rid of!!

Cons: Pricey, over advertized junk, looks will fool you, no warning label that says: send me back!!

had for about 5 years,they recommend changing carbon filters every 6 months at $49.88,paying 349.00 then 100.00 year to run,very expensive for just basic carbon filters,first got they were 19.99 now thier 49. buckaroos.

TOO MANY "SNAPPING" NOISES!!!!!

I have 2, spent a lot of $ thought maybe next one purchased would not make snapping noise but it does. I clean them with the spray the reccomend and still I have snapping noise! My little dog is afraid of it when it snaps so, I wasted all that $ and can`t use them.He is also afraid of thunder storms and any unordinary sounds.

Not sure why it just quit, cleaned it regularly. I am going to look for new one, but with the added "clean the air" quality. I do miss the white noise!
Pros: Great White Noise
Cons: Clean light never came on, Stopped working, Didn't change air quality, After short time arc's, Dust all around it, Made sputtering noise

I would not be without these and Yes, I have tried all the others. My asthma is literally life threatening and I trust my lungs to ORECK.
I have purchased them as wedding gifts, etc.
Pros: Easy To Clean, Very Effective, FRESH CLEAN AIR, REDUCED MY ASTHMA ATTACKS
Cons: WIRES COME LOOSE IN TIME

This product was used in a bedroom, where the appesarance was stylish and aestitic, however it did not last for very long even though it was cleaned regularly. mal-functioning occured in the form of poping and arcing while in use, on close observation it was discovered that small wires in its construction broke and was interacting with other parts.
Pros: High Quality
Cons: Bad Value

I've bought the Oreck but hard to clean and since it didn't have the filter it made me feel like it wasn't doing much. And it only lasted 2 years.
I'm purchased an Alen A350 instead and it compares favorably to other brands and I know I'll have it for long time with the life time warrenty.
