Air purifiers are a great tool in helping people breath in healthy, clean air. But not all air purifiers are created equal in their ability to remove particles such as pollen, dust, mold and pet dander as small as 0.3 microns. So at Air Purifiers America we conducted tests on several models of air purifiers using a specialty laser particle counter to measure the percentage of particles removed from the air. The resulting information follows, with higher percentage numbers indicating more particles removed from the air by the corresponding air cleaner.

Recommendations: Air Purifiers America highly recommends the IQAir, Alen™ or BlueAir air purifiers, as these units remove over 98% of all airborne particles such as pollen, mold, dander and dust. Air Purifiers America does not recommend the Friedrich C-90, Ionic Breeze or Oreck XL air cleaners, as these units generate ozone, which is harmful to the body according to laboratory research conducted by California DHS' Indoor Air Quality Program. Click here for a detailed review of each of these HEPA air purifiers.
Disclaimer: This test was conducted at our offices to represent how the units would actually perform for most of our customer base. The test was not conducted in a controlled test lab and some results may differ from those in other studies.
