Shop by Type of Air Cleaners
There are two major types of air purifiers - HEPA and Electrostatic. At
Air Purifiers America, we recommend only the HEPA air purifiers because of the
in-depth testing we have conducted. Even the EPA has also recommended the
use of HEPA type air cleaners as the most effective technology for removing
particles such as dust, molds, pet dander and pollen. Let us know if we
can be of further assistance by sending us a

HEPA stands for High Efficiency Particulate Air. These filters are
designed to remove 99.97% of all airborne particles 0.3 microns or larger from
the air that passes through the HEPA filter. HEPA technology is considered the
world's best.
Electrostatic units filter the air
using static electricity. They utilize a static electric charge to attract
airborne particles to "stick" to the metal plates, just like static-charged
clothing sticks together. Electrostatic air purifiers cover smaller areas such
as bedrooms and small living quarters of less than 300 square feet or a 20 x 15
foot room. Electrostatic air cleaners are not recommended as they produce
significant levels of ozone which is harmful for the body. For more explanation,
